The Sugar Syrup:
- 450g sugar
- 550g water
- Juice of half a lemon
Cook water and sugar for 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened and sugar has dissolved. Add the lemon juice, mix it in and set aside to cool completely.
The Hormasica Biscuits
- 250g unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 200g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 baking powder bag (kesica, ?? g)
- 430g flour
- 250g chopped walnuts
Steps:
- Beat sugar and butter with electric mixer for a few minutes, then add eggs and continue beating.
- Add baking powder, flour, and chopped walnuts, finish mixing by hand as it becomes too thick to mix with mixer.
- Shape hormasice and bake in oven preheated at 175-180C until very slightly golden (they should still be fairly pale). Note: Start checking them around 15 minutes, they are safe before that.
- Once removed from the oven, pour the COOLED syrup all over, put in the fridge minimum 3 hours before eating.
Optional Step 3.5: Steal one without syrup while hot.
